MSNBC’s Joy Reid pointed out the inequity in law enforcement efforts to protect public property as video of the police non-violently directing the insurrectionists out of the Capitol and off the Capitol plaza.

The overwhelmingly white crowd of MAGA insurrections acted without fear of police response, storming the Capitol, destroying public property and threatening law enforcement.
Reid said that compared to Black Lives Matter protests, when the police aggressively attacked protesters in Washington, DC and in cities around the country and made scores of arrests, the police were restrained and polite, which is a privilege of white people who feel they “own” the police and have the police work for them.
In media coverage, broadcasts showed police patiently watched as insurrectionists approached police officers and shouted at them. In one case, a police officers helped a female insurrectionist down the steps of the Capitol after she trespassed on the grounds. Currently, police are standing in line nearly one hour after the curfew imposed by DC Mayor Muriel Bowser.
