Game show host and talk show host Regis Philbin has died of natural causes at the age of 88, People magazine reports.
Best known as the co-host for the long-running Live! show, first with Kathie Lee Gifford as co-host and then with Kelly Ripa, Philbin was also the original host of the US version of Who Wants to be A Millionaire.
Philbin’s television career started in 1955 as a page on The Tonight Show, then hosted by Steve Allen.
Philbin won multiple Emmy Awards, as a game show host and a talk show host, and he was a favorite foil for talk show hosts like David Letterman when he appeared on their late night shows.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, and four children.
