The federal government has racked up a fine of $192,000–which continues to increase–for construction of an unauthorized fence that’s blocking a bike lane on Southwest Third Avenue, OregonLive reports.
Portland Commissioner Chloe Eudaly said Tuesday that the city intends to collect on the fine. The city can assess a fine of $500 for every 15 minutes the fence stays in place.
The fence has become a flashpoint for the protests in the city, as citizens see the federal agents as unwelcome invaders in their city. Many of the confrontations occur around the fencing.
