Prank website RentAHitman.com, created by Northern California web developer Bob Innes in 2005 as an inchoate cybersecurity testing service (the “hitman” referred to a white hat hacker hired to try to expose vulnerabilities needing repair) that accidentally evolved into a trap to lure dumbasses into being arrested for attempted murder-for-hire plots celebrated yet another successful conviction this month. Wendy Wein, of South Rockford, Michigan pleaded guilty on November 12th to solicitation of murder and using a computer to commit a crime after her inquiry about hiring an assassin to kill her husband on Innes’ site was forwarded to law enforcement. RentAHitman.com, which boasts of its compliance with the “HIPPA (Hitman Information Privacy & Protection Act of 1964)”, has prevented more than 140 murders since its founding, per Fox 2 Detroit.
