Germany’s Federal Ministry of Health just released a quarantine notice for travelers from the UK, noting: “The classification of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland incl. all British Overseas Territories, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands as an area of variants of concern is effective as of 20 December 2021 at 0:00 a.m.”
This follows limits on travel from the UK to France. “New rules have come into force for people entering France from the UK as the French government tries to slow the spread of the Omicron variant. Travellers need an essential reason for their trip unless they are French nationals, residents or hauliers,” reports BBC News.
CNN published a list two weeks ago of travel restrictions by country, and nations around the world are seeking additional restrictions as the Omicron variant continues to spread.
Additional pending restrictions include the possibility of a ban on travel from the US and Canada to Israel. Canada also announced new restrictions on December 17th to try to limit the spread of the Omicron variant. There is anecdotal evidence suggesting that Canadians are very concerned about anti-Vax MAGA extremists who try to cross the country’s Southern border illegally.
