A New York judge denied a motion by the National Rifle Association to shut down a probe by the state’s Attorney General into corruption by the leaders of the immoral organization, Reuters reports.
New York Attorney General Leticia James is leading an investigation into the organization’s payment that benefited its Executive Director Wayne LaPierre, who was recently reappointed CEO of the organization. The AG’s office is investigating the amount of self-dealing within the organization that got LaPierre $4,000 suits, a $10 million home, an all-expenses-paid vacation to Africa and various other unreported benefits.
James’s investigation has uncovered no-bid contracts granted by LaPierre that benefited his friends and family. Corruption, however, is pervasive in conservative organizations, from evangelical churches to a former president, so members of the organization apparently feel stealing their donations is expected.
The NRA, for its part, claimed before New York Justice Joel Cohen of the state court in Manhattan that James was only pursuing the case against the pro-America’s top murder weapon advocacy group because she disliked the pro-massacre policies promoted by the NRA. Cohen rejected the argument.
