With an intro that seemed straight out of a Brondo commercial in “Idiocracy” (“Brondo, it’s what plants need!”), First Daughter and nepotism beneficiary Ivanka Trump labeled herself as the “daughter of the people’s president.”
Ivanka claims that Trump “fights for you from dawn to midnight.” [Fact Check: His daily schedule is typically empty and he’s spent hundreds of days at his private properties, not to mention hours each day in “executive time” after watching Fox “News.”]
“I recognize that my dad’s communications style is not to everyone’s taste,” Ivanka cutely claimed, “and I know that his tweets can feel a bit unfiltered. But the results, the results speak for themselves.”
[Fact Check: Most Americans want Trump to greatly limit his use of social media. His tweets have caused panic in the markets and the military, as well as upset foreign relations. And the results do speak for themselves: recession, massive unemployment, racial injustice and a pandemic, all from his lack of leadership.]
“In the months that followed [discussions about foreign trade deals], President Trump refused to settle for a good deal,” Ivanka claimed. “He wanted a great deal, and ultimately that is exactly what we got.”
[Fact Check: Trump’s trade war was supported in tens of billions of dollars in “socialist” subsidies to American farmers and industries that could not sell their products. The deals worked out were, for all intents and purposes, nearly identical to the ones they replaced. And the US trade deficit has increased 30% since he took office.]
“As our nation endures this great trial [meaning the coronavirus pandemic], I pray for the families who are mourning the loss of a loved one, for those who are battling COVID-19 and for the first responders and the health care heroes who remain on the front line of this fight. The grief, sorrow and anxiety of this time is felt by all,” Ivanka claimed.
“I been with my father and I’ve seen the pain in his eyes when he sees the lives that have been stolen by this plague,” she said. “I’ve seen him make some of the most difficult decisions of his life.”
[Fact check:]
“I watch him take the strongest, most inclusive economy in a lifetime, the lowest unemployment in a half century, and the highest wage increase for working families in decades and close it down to save American lives,” Ivanka lied.
[Fact Check: This is an absurd lie. Trump did not advocate shutting down any business. In fact, he didn’t even implement a single domestic policy to stop the spread of the coronavirus and encouraged business and school to stay open, and then reopen too early. State and local leaders made the decisions to shut down businesses and schools. In fact, Trump was so stubborn about keeping things open that it wasn’t until three weeks ago that the republican convention was canceled. And Ivanka dares to say this in front of a crowd of about 1,000 people who were not tested, are not socially distant and are largely not wearing masks!]
At this point, Ivanka started to promote her achievements in office, apparently her attempt at a future public office.
