Musk ❤️ Putin, they talk regularly about stuff: WSJ

Ketamine-brained billionaire Elon Musk and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin have been in regular contact since at least late 2022, and at one point, Putin asked the billionaire to avoid activating his Starlink service over Taiwan as a favor to Chinese dictator Xi Jinping, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The White House and intel community are well aware of all this and aren’t quite sure what to do – which is probably why they leaked it to the Journal, who write “In the past year, Musk and Russia’s interests have increasingly overlapped. Apart from Russia’s use of X for disinformation and Musk’s outspoken opposition to aid to Kyiv, Ukrainian officials said earlier this year that Russian forces occupying the country’s eastern and southern swaths had started using Starlink to enable secure communications and extend the range of their drones.” Then of course there’s the whole wanting Trump back in the White House thing too. Elon and Vlad are definitely on the same page on that.

MAGA loves the ACA, they just won’t admit it

Hearing Trump and Vance trying to…sane-wash isn’t the right term…re-write history about Trump’s attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Democrats are right in jumping on their history of subverting the popular program.  It demonstrates how, once again, Republicans are disconnected from how their lives actually work.

I worked in the health insurance industry before the ACA passed, when insurance companies could deny claims based on a previously undiagnosed “pre-existing condition” or because some reinsurer “lasered” (or put a cap on spending for) a specific patient who was expected to have a major medical claim.    I cannot imagine the industry if the ACA protections are ever revoked and commercial insurers can go back to specifying conditions that trigger higher premiums, and imposing Big Brother oversight on tobacco use, or blood pressure, or a prescription that signals a chronic condition like diabetes, and decide suddenly–BAM–higher rates or worse–BAM–policy cancelation.

Post-COVID, who doesn’t have a pre-existing condition?  You had COVID, I have long COVID, they have depression, and we all have anxiety.  Contrary to what JD Vance says, Donald Trump does want to revoke the Affordable Care Act, not because it’s not effective and not because it’s not liked by voters.  He wants to revoke it just… because.  Like so many things, Trump doesn’t know why something must get done, but he damn well wants to do it, and goddamn it, he’ll do it.  Whatever it is.  Especially if it screws with Obama.  Or Hillary.  Or Biden.

Republican group may be backing Jill Stein in Wisconsin: report

WOW! This is so crazy: The Washington Post reports that a super PAC with ties to the Senate Republican leadership appears to be backing Russian asset Jill Stein in key swing state Wisconsin.

That’s crazy that Republicans would want a liberal extremist, pro-Palestinian environmentalist to win the presidency. Someone should check their meds to s- Alright, enough sarcasm.

Nancy Mace threatens subpoena over social media “censorship”

“Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) is continuing the Committee’s investigation into the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to pressure social media companies to censor Americans online. Subcommittee Chairwoman Mace previously sent a letter in September 2024 to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris requesting information, but the White House has not provided responsive documents to the Chairwoman’s letter. In a follow up letter, Chairwoman Mace reiterates her outstanding request for all communications between the White House, social media companies, and any private sector entity regarding efforts to suppress free speech online and threatens the compulsory process if the White House continues to obstruct the Committee’s investigation.”

“‘The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is continuing its oversight of information suppression campaigns in which the Administration may be currently engaged. On September 11, 2024, I wrote to you requesting that you transmit to the Committee documents related to this effort by September 25, 2024,’ wrote Chairwoman Mace. ‘More than a month past that deadline, the Committee has received no substantive response, despite attempts by Committee staff to obtain responsive documents or a timeline for their receipt,'” says a House GOP press release.

Lest there be any doubt what this moron is worried about, the press release is titled “Mace Threatens Biden-Harris White House with Subpoena to Obtain Information on Censorship Efforts to Interfere in the 2024 Election,” which she should just go ahead and do instead of threatening it.

Old-timer sure looks kind of wobbly on the stairs

Donald’s own top social media guy’s posting this without even actually watching it. It’s about the third or fourth step down that the fat bastard seems to almost catch himself. And the entire time he’s looking down at his feet, making sure he doesn’t slip. It’s not quite Joe Biden, for whom it got to the point where the staff had to have him exit out the cargo ramp of Air Force One so the press wouldn’t see him descending down the stairs, ever, but it’s 100 percent noticeable, especially with the Secret Service agent behind him just looking forward, keeping an eye on Donald, not even touching the railing while bounding down the steps, which do not appear to be all that steep.

Colin Allred raises $11 million since debate with Cruz

“Congressman Colin Allred announced his campaign brought in an additional $11 million over the last sixteen days in his campaign to defeat Ted Cruz. To date, the campaign has raised more than $80 million, including $1 million the day after the Texas Senate Debate and $30 million in the third quarter,” says a statement from Dem Texas Congressman Colin Allred’s campaign.

In very much related news, NBC reports Chuck Schumer’s Senate Majority PAC is planning to spend $5 million on a TV ads across the Houston, Dallas and San Antonio media markets, the first big national Dem buy in the Lone Star State this cycle. Again, we’ll believe it when we see it, but Cruz is considerably more unpopular than he was when he last ran in 2018 given the whole Cancun thing and Allred is a just a better candidate than Beto O’Rourke. If not for Trump also being on the ballot we might seriously think Allred is favored. Probably a safe bet he’ll do better than O’Rourke.

Russians tipping Houthis on Red Sea targets

Sur-fucking-prise that one of the flare-ups that the fanboys’ unceasing narrative that “the world is going to hell under Joe Biden” was being helped along by the Russians, as the Wall Street Journal reports the Putin regime was giving Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels targeting data to attack Western ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones earlier this year.

Orange Hitler incorrectly cites wife’s fantasy fuck

“Even Justin Trudeau wants to close Canada’s Borders. We are the only ‘stupid ones’ that allow people, including hundreds of thousands of criminals, to freely come into the United States through our ridiculous ‘Open Borders’ Policy. The damage has already been done, but it must be corrected IMMEDIATELY!” posted fat former President Trump on Thursday, with a screencap of this tweet:

It’s almost like Trump doesn’t know which country Canada borders. The only country it borders. And that he completely didn’t read the tweet where it has nothing to do with the borders but Canada’s immigration system through which new legal applicants from other countries are granted citizenship.

Trudeau’s not building a goddamned wall or deporting Americans sneaking over the border any more than Melania avoided eye-fucking him when he visited the White House that one time.

CNN drew at least 3.2 million viewers for Harris town hall

CNN’s Wednesday night town hall starring Vice President Kamala Harris preliminarily drew 3.2 million viewers for CNN, media guy Brian Stelter reports, writing “the total audience rating will grow when Nielsen releases finalized data later today, and the TV ratings do not count various forms of streaming… Wednesday night’s event outrated all of Harris and Trump’s previous town halls of the general election season. (Their recent Univision town halls averaged about 1 million viewers each.)”

Harris holds mini-press conference in Atlanta

Speaking briefly in Atlanta about why there was only one CNN town hall and not two like the network proposed, Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday said “Last night, yet again, Trump didn’t show up. Clearly his staff has been saying he’s exhausted, and the sad part about that is he’s trying to be President of the United States. It’s the toughest job in the world and he’s exhausted.”

Long-serving Republican Wisconsin state senator endorses Harris

Republican Wisconsin state Senator Rob Cowles on Thursday told a radio host he’ll be voting for Vice President Kamala Harris next month. “I really think this is one of the most important things I’ve done. Hopefully, people will accept that and listen to me, those that have trusted me and believed in me will think about that, and if they’re undecided, that we have to make a change here… Trump has to be defeated, and we have to protect the Constitution. And the country will go on, even with some liberal things that Harris might do, or might not do… You have to have the foundation of the Constitution, to protect democracy. If you don’t have that, we will disappear,” per Civic Media.

You know maybe by the third old white Republican guy in crucial swing states – two of them currently in elected office – telling the media they’re going to be voting for the Democrat for president in a single morning we can say that it’s possibly a bigger deal than Tulsi Gabbard (who actually says she’s a Republican now anyway) and Robert F Kennedy Jr, who’s mentally ill. Maybe.

Villager flees car crash, comes back to find gold chain, gets arrested

A criminal mastermind living in The Villages, Florida was arrested and booked on charges of hit and run, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and driving while license suspended after he crashed an Infiniti SUV into a lamppost, threw a gun over a nearby fence, and ran away from the scene, but then returned because he wanted to try to find a gold necklace he dropped following the crash in nearby Summerfield, Villages-News reports.

It was early last Thursday when, immediately following the crash, 51 year-old Timothy Harold Barnhorst was seen tossing a dark object over the fence by a neighbor awoken by the loud crash. A Marion County deputy was investigating the scene when Barnohorst approached saying he was looking for the necklace. Whether this was on the ground or in the car was not stated, but either way the deputy quickly placed Barnhorst under arrest for driving with a suspended license. Then they found the meth. Then the gun on the ground behind the fence. So yeah, Timmy’s in big trouble.

Being a convicted felon, Barnhorst isn’t eligible to vote so there’s no registration data on him. His 83 year-old mom, Linda, who he lives with in the Villages, is however a registered Republican.

“They flew right at the beginning. He was off the stage. He had just gotten off the stage. He’s a very good man, he’ll be a great senator”

Wrapping up an interview this morning with convicted felon former President Trump, far right shitbag radio host Hugh Hewitt asked the demented senior how he was feeling about his chances in Pennsylvania, saying “Well, I’m going to Pennsylvania for [Republican Senate nominee and hedge fund oligarch] Dave McCormick tonight. How do you feel about the Keystone State?”

“Well, I feel good about Dave McCormick, too. And I think I’ve helped Dave a lot. I put him, every one, don’t forget, I have rallies, I had a rally, 55,000. I had a rally, 100,000 people. That would be the Butler rally. One was 55, and was 100,000 people, 101,000 people. I put Dave out front. You know, Dave was with me. One minute, he was on the stage one minute before the bullets flew from the maniac. He was standing there one minute, so he got lucky. He got off the stage. But he was there one minute before. He was there right at the beginning, and they flew right at the beginning. He was off the stage. He had just gotten off the stage. He’s a very good man, he’ll be a great senator. And I think I was extremely helpful to him,” said Trump. Hewitt then mentioned other GOP Senate candidates Bernie Moreno, Eric Hovde, and Mike Rogers as solid picks, to which Trump agreed.

“You’re doing great. Thank you for your time this morning. I hope I talk to you on Election Day, and I’ve already cast my vote for you, so everyone out there who says I’m easy on Trump, I’m not easy on Trump. I just know what’s good for the country. Thank you, Mr President,” said Hewitt, symbolically wiping the white stuff off of his chin. “Thank you very much, Hugh. Thank you,” Trump said.

Nevada GOP poll watchers asked to look for “internet connectivity”

Among the 15 items on a checklist distributed to the Nevada GOP’s volunteer poll watcher teams during in-person early voting hours through election day and obtained by the Nevada Independent are requirements that are mostly reasonable enough, by both normal and deeply paranoid Republican standards, such as “Polling place closed on time,” “Watchers were given ample access to observe procedures,” “No voters that entered line after designated closing time were allowed to vote,” “Drop boxes were collected by bipartisan teams with visible party identifiers,” and so on.

There’s one however that definitely goes the extra mile into the Krakenverse – “No voting machines had visible internet connectivity” – and raising some alarms that, for obvious reasons, since none of these fuckers are being trained on what that’s supposed to mean, let alone a basic intro to voting machine hardware ports, MAGA watchdogs could lose their shit over something innocuous.

“It leaves open to interpretation of, like, what is considered visible internet connectivity?” said Nevada ACLU attorney Sadmira Ramic. “Some people are convinced that if there’s any type of flash drive around, if there’s any kind of wiring around, then it’s automatically connected to the internet.”
