Republican Springfield, Ohio Mayor Rob Rue, who had been planning a conference call earlier this month with Mike Pence replacement and Rue’s actual currently sitting Senator JD Vance – a plan that collapsed when city officials found out that Vance had planned on letting a bunch of local MAGA conspiracy theorists join – tells Politico that he still has yet to hear from Jaydee since at all since the couchfucker started propagating lies about the city’s Haitian community eating cats.

“We didn’t trust what that would look like because we were concerned those being brought on may not even be our constituents. It would not have been productive,” Rue said, adding his family’s been getting threats and that someone dropped off a confused Haitian migrant at his house last weekend.

Republican Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, a Springfield native, told Politico’s Jonathan Martin a similar story. Not about the threats or a Haitian migrant getting dropped off at his home, but about not having heard from Vance – or convicted felon former President Trump. But also he doesn’t think it would matter. “It’s clear nothing that I would say would alter” JD or Trump’s conduct, said DeWine.

A review by the Wall Street Journal finds that, excluding Alaska, of the 1,986 counties/Louisiana parishes in the other 49 states in which Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, food stamps, the earned income tax credit, veterans benefits, Pell grants, Covid-era payments, and other support account for 25 percent or more of the total personal income, 1,746 of these counties voted for convicted felon former President Trump in the 2020 election to just 240 for Joe Biden. This was up from 2016 when 169 such counties voted for Hillary to 1,276 for Trump.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has retained a semi-obscure MAGA lawyer named Bill Burck to lead his defense team as he faces five major federal felonies. Burck’s greatest hits include helping former Trump White House Chief of Staff Reince Preibus, Trump White House Counsel Don McGahn, and Trump White House Smelly Alcoholic Nazi Steve Bannon squirm out of being interviewed during Robert Mueller’s investigation. In 2021 Business Insider reported that Burck had the balls to demand the DOJ reimburse the fees Bannon owed him for the repeated interviews with Mueller’s team.

Burck would not be the first of Team Trump’s former defense lawyers to freelance for a Dem facing federal charges as in 2022 First Son and irresponsible crackhead-turned-painter Hunter Biden retained Abbe Lowell, who had previously represented the far more successful presidential influence peddler Jared Kushner. Then again Lowell had also repped former President Bill Clinton, and former Senators John Edwards and Bob Menendez (the 2015 trial when Bob walked), so you might actually say his Kushner work was more the exception than the rule as far as Lowell’s clientele goes.

North Carolinians Republican Congressman Chuck Edwards – whose mountainous western district was especially hard hit by flooding from the remnants of Hurricane Helene last week – and Dem Gov Roy Cooper both tell Politico Playbook their constituents need assistance, not campaign stops.

“The people in my district really don’t want to see politicians,” said Edwards. “They want to see water. Food. Cell towers and power restored, and the ability to contact their loved ones. Photo ops are not what’s needed.” Cooper was on the same page, saying “I told the president that we did not need elected officials that require a lot of security and attention, because we need to make sure that we’re getting the work done on the ground.” People are still trapped, he added, and “it’s not the right time for [Vice President Kamala Harris or convicted felon former President Trump] to come.”

At least 60 people are dead and dozens more are unaccounted for across Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Virginia – 60 of them potentially missing in western North Carolina’s Buncombe County alone – after Category 4 Hurricane Helene swept in through Florida’s Big Bend region and moved into the South’s interior, CNN reports. Investigative outfit American Muckrakers – which has something of a spotty record, though getting sandbagged is different than intentionally misrepresenting facts – have obtained a lengthy tranche of seemingly genuine emails between infamously shitty far right pollster Rasmussen Reports – the one convicted felon former President Trump keeps citing as finding him with wide national leads over Vice President Kamala Harris – the Trump campaign leadership, and the Heartland Institute – a bullshit right wing “think tank” who have partnered with Rasmussen in at least one push poll.

According to the New Republic, the coordination between Rasmussen, Heartland, and Team Orange constitutes a violation of election regulations because Heartland is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and is not allowed to engage in activity benefiting a candidate. We’re sure the FEC’s going to get right on that.

The contents of the emails themselves are also not terribly explosive otherwise. Like it doesn’t seem to go any further than Rasmussen previewing their findings to Trump’s campaign – one email from Rasmussen dipshit Ted Carroll says “These are just out and so I figured you might want to see them early, especially the final question which was inspired by a recent Tweet from Catturd. A majority of all voters now believe the DC GOP set out to sink President Trump in 2020,” lol – but if you were hoping for something far more embarrassing, like they’re outright cooking the numbers in collusion with each other, you’re going to have to wait on Muckrakers for that. They just might have more where that came from, judging by their takedowns of now-former Congressbro Madison Cawthorn and attempting the same on Lauren Boebert (which they got ratfucked on with bad info).

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, the cuck from Minnesota who still worships the Orange God Emperor even after he tanked Emmer’s bid for the speakership last year and called him a “RINO,” insisted to ABC’s Martha Raddatz that Jaydee Vance, who Emmer has been coaching in debate practice ahead of Tuesday’s big showdown against Emmer’s home state Gov Tim Walz, is very likable. Which is a complete lie, both by any reasonably objective measure and quantifiably in surveys, which Emmer dismissed as “snapshot polls that are being done for a specific reason.” Lol.

Asked if he approves with Trump calling Vice President Kamala Harris is “mentally impaired,” Emmer got heated and all he could say was “we should stick to the issues.” He then cried about the media holding up “shiny objects” when asked about Trump and Jaydee’s stories of Haitians eating pets.

William Robert Braddock III, a 2022 GOP candidate for Florida’s 13th Congressional District which includes Tampa, faces federal felony charges for asserting he was sending “my Russian-Ukrainian  hit squad” to kill his opponent, NBC News reports.  Braddock was indicted this week after being extradited from the Philippines.

According to the DOJ, “On June 8, 2021, Braddock made several threats to injure and kill Victim 1 [a fellow GOP candidate for Congress] and Victim 2 [a friend of the opponent] during a telephone call with Victim 2. Specifically, Braddock threatened, in part, to ‘call up my Russian-Ukrainian hit squad’ and make Victim 1 disappear. After making the threats, Braddock left the United States and was later found to be residing in the Philippines. Braddock was recently deported from the Philippines to the United States and made his first court appearance yesterday in Los Angeles.”

A new national public opinion survey by Gallup finds 58 percent of respondents favor replacing the Electoral College with a national popular vote to 39 opposed, consistent with a Pew Center survey finding, also from this week, putting the split at 63 to 35 percent pro-popular vote to pro-Electoral College, respectively. Gallup since 2000 and Pew since 2017 have asked the question every few years and both have consistently found Team PV in within a few points of 60 percent and Team EC around 35 percent… Except for 2016 when the Electoral College suddenly got a little more popular.

The answer why is painfully obvious. In late November 2016 Gallup found just a two-point lead for Team Popular Vote at 49 to 47 percent. In 2017 CNN found it at 51 to 44 percent PV to EC. The same year Pew found it at 55 percent pro-Popular Vote to 41 percent Electoral College. In 2020 the topline numbers began to creep back up to normal range for Gallup as they found a 61 to 38 percent split while Pew found a nearly-identical 60 percent pro-popular vote to 37 percent. Gallup didn’t run it in 2021, but Pew did and found another sudden, albeit smaller, spike for the Electoral College – 43 percent to 55 percent – possibly because certain voters realized they fell just about about 44,000 votes across three states from their desired outcome in the prior presidential election.

Also obvious is the partisan makeup, as this year Gallup found 82 percent of Dem respondents on Team Popular Vote to 66 percent of GOP respondents on Team Electoral College, while Pew puts it at 87 percent of liberal Dems saying they’re pro-PV versus 63 percent of pro-PV conservatives.
