The debut of Joy Reid’s new program on MSNBC, The ReidOut, topped overall viewership in its timeslot, with 2.6 million viewers, more than 20% ahead of its Fox “News” competitor, The Story with Martha MacCallum, according to AdWeek’s TVNewser.
Reid took over the time slot that was Chris Matthews’ Hardball held until Matthews sudden retirement in March due to his acknowledgement of inappropriate interactions with female staffers.
Reid interviewed presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in her first segment on the air, followed by an interview with former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
