In a phone interview with Fox “News” hostess Ashley Strohmier tonight, Dr. Ronny Jackson, the former White House Physician who claimed that President Trump was in great shape, but was later removed from the post for improperly writing prescriptions and previously undisclosed issues of drunk driving, predicted Trump would see no complications from the coronavirus.
“So I feel confident, knowing the President’s health first hand, that he’s in great health, and-ah, and-ah, the fact that he doesn’t have a lot of these comorbidities–or ANY of these comorbidities [indecipherable] I’m still pretty confident that, that he’s gonna weather this storm and they’re gonna move on,” Jackson said.
[FACT CHECK: Trump is old and obese and he takes a statin medication to lower blood pressure and cholesterol. These are all comorbidities that have detrimental outcomes with COVID patients.]
Jackson went on: “I will bet you that they sequester him for a period of time based on his positive test but I will bet you that he does not develop symptoms. He moves on and this, this, this, this, this does not become a big deal.”
[FACT CHECK: Doctors cannot accurately determine which cases become “big deals” at the outset of the virus, and Trump is at a higher risk than most because of his obesity and other health issues.]
Ashley Strohmier: “Obviously, a lot of people know that he would be in a high risk just solely based on his age, but I’m fairly certain, he’s mentioned many, many times, he doesn’t exactly live a bad lifestyle as far as drinking. I mean, he obviously does not sleep, the man works 24/7. He’s up I feel like, every hour of the day. And I asked this earlier. Maybe you might know more about this, but if he… if he, um, were to… Like I said, he tested positive. He’s got the 14 days, I, I, I, I just want a clarification, if there is a negative test on day 8 or 9, or 10, not 14, would he be considered clear? Do you have to go through one or two or three negative tests? How many tests do you have to get for that to be considered clear?”
[FACT CHECK: Trump eats fast food and drinks Diet Coke almost exclusively. He does very little work, although he gets a lot of Executive Time to watch Fox “News.”]
Jackson went on to say that after two negative tests, Trump would likely be cleared to work because he’d be non-infectious. “He can go back to work with confidence that he’s not infectious, that he’s not going to infect anybody else, and that, y’know, he’s not going to develop symptoms from that point forward.”
[FACT CHECK: Long-haulers with Covid develop and maintain symptoms long after tests show no virus in their system. Doctors don’t understand the long-term impact of the disease.]
