Setting a new pandemic record, more than three million Americans took flights within the United States from Friday through Sunday, CNN reports.
Despite warnings from public health officials suggesting people forgo large gatherings during the Thanksgiving holiday, approximately 1% of the American population opted to board flights.
Medical professionals noted that while the flights themselves may not lead to infections, the ensuing gathers of family and friends–particularly those who do not isolate beforehand–will lead to a widespread growth in infections.
