When you name your Super PAC “Fire Madison Cawthron,” your intention is pretty clear.

A new Super PAC launched Monday wants to get the Republican Congressman representing North Carolina’s 11th District, saying its “sole purpose is to raise funds to focus on the callous and child-like actions of U.S. Representative David (Madison) Cawthorn,” according to USA Today.

David Wheeler, a two-time candidate for the NC Senate in District 47 and Col. Moe Davis, who ran against Cawthorn in 2020, formed the Super PAC.  They’ve currently taking donations, including one of $5,000 so far, at their website, which just seems to be a landing page.

While the wheelchair-bound Cawthorn has risen to a certain level of fame in the GOP, a number of scandals have surrounded him.  He’s been accused with numerous cases of sexual harassment and assault during his short tenure at Patrick Henry College.  His “origin story” about the car wreck that caused his paralysis has been called into question, particularly his claim that his friend abandoned him.

He’s also taken credit for passing aid, such as restaurant assistance, on a bill he voted against.

“It’s a way for us to capture the sentiment around Cawthorn on a local, regional and national basis,” Wheeler said, on the decision to form a Super PAC. “We can take small-donor donations and very large donations. … It’s a way to bring that all together.”

For Cawthorn’s part, he again is playing the victim.  His spokesperson called it called it “an effort to silence his voice” by “embittered liberal activists.”
