Five people including at least were wounded during a shootout apparently between two parties at a suburban Phoenix shopping mall Wednesday afternoon, the Associated Press reports.
Police say a man in the mall with a woman and child got into a confrontation with a group of young men he apparently knew. At some point, people in each group pulled weapons and shooting began.
Officials initially said one person was in critical condition at a local hospital, but by early evening the patient reportedly improved. Hundreds of people fled the mall as shots were fired, and some suffered minor injuries. Arizona has exceptionally gun-friendly laws, allowing anyone age 21 or over to carry in virtually any location in the state but schools and liquor stores, but no good guy with a gun showed up to stop this.
