Democrats lead Republicans 46 to 44 percent on the latest New York Times/Siena College polling survey, an improvement by one point over the Dems’ July lead by the same pollster. The same survey found that 43% of respondents described the Republican Party as “extreme” compared to 37% for the Democratic Party. Democrats also lead on the question of which party has the corner on the most important issues, 40 to 38 percent, even though overall the survey found most respondents rating economic issues of the highest importance.
