The post came just prior to Donald endorsing MAGA Congressman Lee Zeldin for governor of New York. To our knowledge Zeldin is one of only two Jewish Republicans running for statewide office – the other being Leora Levy challenging Connecticut Dem Richard Blumenthal (also Jewish). Both Zeldin and Levy are longshots. Zeldin also happens to be one of only two Jewish Republicans currently serving in either chamber, the other being Tennessee Congressman David Kustoff, who is running for reelection. Meanwhile there are at least 10 Jewish Dems in the Senate and 25 in the House (There may be more Jewish GOP rookies running, but that would take a while to nail down).
It’s almost as if Trump got sidetracked from endorsing a Jewish Republican – perhaps the only one he’s backed so far this year – and issued a thinly veiled warning to the Tribe over their “disloyalty” that so infuriated him in the past before remembering he was supposed to encourage people in New York to vote for one of the few who actually has been a reliable supporter.
