A federal bankruptcy court trustee on Sunday filed an “emergency motion” to block the families of the Sandy Hook massacre victims from immediately collecting what they can from the $1.5 billion Alex Jones owes them for calling the school shooting a hoax, with trustee Chris Murray arguing he needs time to “wind down” and “liquidate” the Infowars propaganda empire, the AP reports.
It’s the first time that Murray has indicated publicly of his intent to “conduct an orderly wind-down” and asset sell-off of Infowars, with the move coming in response to a Texas state judge on Friday granting one of the families’ motion to begin collecting $20 million from Jones’s bank accounts. Even if it’s accurate to say Murray is “blocking” them, it should be clear that he’s simply trying to make sure this all proceeds in an orderly fashion and one that would maximize the payouts to the families who suffered so terribly and then even more so due to Jones’s bullshit. The pie’s only so big and there should only be one guy holding the knife to ensure everyone gets an equally-sized slice of it.
