Now, we are actually open to the idea that the Pentagon, an institution led by some of the world’s greatest and most professional military strategists, did in fact make a tactical decision to withhold troops from the Capitol during the riot. Not because they were complicit in any plot to make the fat fuck look bad, but because they were cognizant of a danger that Trump could invoke his emergency powers and directly seize command of those troops to occupy the Capitol and block the certification of the election indefinitely. It was only when he tweeted to his scumbag fans to go home, a few hours in, that the military felt the risk of a Trump junta was acceptable.

Trump of course took the political advantage that he can just say whatever the fuck he wants without any pushback from Defense Department officials. And if the culture was different and they were inclined to respond, does anyone expect the public to understand that they let cops get severely beaten to the point where one died the next day and three more committed suicide from PTSD because of what would sound to them like some bureaucratic horseshit excuse? Would the MAGA propaganda complex just accept that the Defense Department was simply trying not to make a bad situation considerably worse rather than use it to further revise recent history?

All that aside, this is classic Trump as, even if you were to believe this shit, what does that say about him that he was too fucking weak and incompetent to make sure the Pentagon obeyed his commands? “Oh Trump is such a strong leader, everyone’s afraid of him,” and yet here he is making a political argument that he’s not to be blamed politically for what’s inarguably a failure on his part.
