“A civil forfeiture complaint was filed today for $3.4 million in proceeds from the sale of a music studio in Burbank, California. The complaint alleges that the proceeds, which are beneficially owned by Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, are the proceeds of sanctions violations. An indictment charging Deripaska with sanctions violations had been unsealed on Sept 29, 2022, and Deripaska remains at large,” says a Justice Department press release on a civil case against the still-at-large oligarch.
The rest of the details are less important than the very real question of whether this case – and the overall indictment against Deripaska – will still be in the court system three months from now, or if they’re going to be dropped because of a change in management, since MAGA hearts Deripaska.
