Treasury Suckretary Scott Bessent on Sunday told CBS’s Margaret Brennan that American retailers like Walmart have the freedom to choose how they handle the increased costs of tariffs in that they can either eat the tariffs and decrease their profit margins or they can just not sell the imported goods subject to the levies. “Wait and see what does happen,” Bessent said, a running theme with Republicans this morning. Later in the clip Bessent basically called JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon a moron for predicting that the Big Beautiful Bill would do long-term damage to the US bond market.
In completely unrelated news but it was on the same show so what the hell, why not, Brennan then pointed out to FDA Commissioner Marty Makary that his assertion that people don’t trust the CDC is the product of him telling people not to trust the CDC to which the asshole rambled on for another few minutes before Brennan ended the interview, shaking her head in disgust at his douchebaggery.
