Absolutely heartbreaking image out of Kerr County, Texas where this little girl and at least 80 other people DIED after her Christian camp was flooded WITHOUT WARNING because convicted felon President Trump’s regime was too focused on stupid shit like trying to close the hospitals that people in rural areas like this one rely on and deporting the Canadian wife of one of his voters and NOT ENOUGH on staffing the National Weather Service forecasting office responsible for warning people in the area that a disaster was imminent! Her blood is on President Trump’s hands!
Oh wait, that pic was from October 2024…
This picture has been seared into my mind.

…and it was an AI fake…
Y’all, I don’t know where this photo came from and honestly, it doesn’t matter.
It is seared into my mind forever.
There are people going through much worse than what is shown in this pic.
So I’m leaving it because it is emblematic of the trauma and pain people are living…

But it still feels true right?
I realize I’m coming very close to crossing that line here when a few dozen girls did actually drown at that camp – luckily for MAGA Congressman August Pfluger and his wife their daughters were not among them. It is fucking horrific what happened and the families must be absolutely ripped apart with grief. That I even need to approach the line of what is and isn’t in good taste says a lot and nothing good about how this latest episode fits into the bigger picture about our media environment.
Because that first paragraph above, minus the bullshit about the little girl (which doesn’t even make sense that she would’ve drowned after being rescued, but that wouldn’t have stopped the MAGA propagandists), is actually pretty much true. The DOGE incels really gutted the National Weather Service offices that could’ve made a difference. And it’s not just the “fake news” or fucking Grok saying this. “The original forecast that we received Wednesday from the National Weather Service predicted 3-6 inches of rain in the Concho Valley and 4-8 inches in the Hill Country. The amount of rain that fell at this specific location was never in any of those forecasts,” Texas Emergency Management Chief W Nim Kidd told reporters at a press conference on Friday.
At the same presser Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice said the flash flood “dumped more rain than what was forecasted” by the National Weather Service. “This happened very quickly over a very short amount of time that could not be predicted. This is not like a tornado where you can have a siren. This is not a hurricane where you’re planning weeks in advance. It hit hard and things like this happen in a very strategic, very isolated area and when those two things converge you have what happened today,” Rice said, referring to the confluences of both the bad forecast and the riverbeds.
On the other side, National Weather Service Fort Worth office service coordination hydrologist Greg Waller told the Texas Tribune that the agency still has “adequate staffing. We had adequate technology. This was us doing our job to the best of our abilities,” and played up the “act of God” aspect by highlighting how a not-all-that-inaccurate forecast could have had dire consequences as the Tribune writes Waller added that “The terrain in the area makes it so precipitation forecasts off by just 20 miles could affect entirely different river basins.” Which sounds plausible enough, except this is an administration that fired a lawyer for admitting to a judge that Kilmar Abrego Garcia was deported in defiance of a lawful court order, those National Security Council officials for concluding that the Maduro Regime was not in fact directing Venezuelan street gang Tren De Aragua’s dime-bag amateur criminal enterprises in the US, Chris Krebs, the head of the cybersecurity intel agency for insubordinately calling the 2020 election the “most secure in history,” and…

…and while nobody got “fired” over this particular incident per se it was close enough. Neil Jacobs, then the acting head of NOAA, saw his nomination implode in 2019 after he was found to have violated the agency’s code of ethics for issuing a statement saying that the original forecast track for Hurricane Dorian was “inconsistent with probabilities from the best forecast products available at the time,” all to make the Orange God Emperor look like less of a fucking mental patient for having sharpied the map to cover up what had been at first a pretty inconsequential misstatement.
And yeah, now Jacobs is once again the acting NOAA chief, so maybe altogether you can kind of see the what one may consider to be the upside risks and downside potential to the incentive structure Waller’s looking at right now when he says one thing or another about the staffing levels of the offices responsible and whether that may or may not have contributed to the disaster.
So that’s a red flag right there. Another is the question of the emergency alerts:
What Dannie Goeb, aka Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick told Fox News this morning about only local residents having received the emergency alert notifications on their phones is completely the opposite of what NWS San Antonio meteorologist Bob Fogarty told the Tribune, who attributes him as having said “All NWS flash flood warnings, including the one issued after midnight on Friday, trigger Wireless Emergency Alerts, the emergency push notification sent through cellphone towers to all wireless phones in the emergency area. That warning was updated nine times throughout Friday, each of which triggered separate alerts through the Emergency Alert System.”
Meaning that it didn’t matter if you were from the Aleutian Islands or Maine or Guam and on a visit to Kerr County that night. If your phone was charged and on it would have blared that tone.
Might there have been a combination of a “cry wolf” effect and that nine different alerts while people were sleeping might’ve been too much? Yeah, that probably played a role. Rice, the Kerrville City Manager, used that exact phrasing when reporters asked him to speculate what might’ve happened at Camp Mystic before the flood hit and why the administrators waited to evacuate.
That Dan Patrick propagates misinformation instead of offering that nuanced “human nature”-type take speaks to a consciousness of if not guilt then a similarly very distinct political vulnerability.
So does this Saturday Fox News article headlined “Deadly Texas flood exposes ‘neglected’ weather alert system Trump aims to modernize – DHS Secretary Kristi Noem addresses perceived notification failures as the death toll reaches 32 with 27 young girls still missing“:
After a Texas flood killed at least 32 people Friday, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem addressed criticism about notification prior to the flood, saying the administration is working on updating the National Weather Service and NOAA’s “neglected” and “ancient” systems.
Citing her time in Congress and as governor of South Dakota, Noem said that while the weather is difficult to predict, there have been instances when officials and citizens expressed the need for quicker warning and clearer notification before deadly weather.
“That is one of the reasons that, when President [Donald] Trump took office, he said he wanted to fix and is currently upgrading the technology,” Noem said during a news conference with state officials Saturday afternoon.
“The National Weather Service has indicated that with that and the [National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration] (NOAA), we needed to renew this ancient system that has been left in place with the federal government for many, many years.”
What exactly is “ancient” about a system that blares an emergency tone to every single smartphone in a specific geographic region? If anything these tools probably work too well sometimes…
I’ve ordered FL Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie to bring swift accountability for the test of the emergency alert system in the wee hours of the morning. This was a completely inappropriate use of this system.
Stay tuned.

And then there’s complete lack of specificity in both Noem’s statements and the Fox News article about what President Sharpie is doing to “fix and is currently upgrading the technology.” Like not even so much as which executive order it was supposed to be, what the problem is, or why “many, many years” somehow doesn’t include 2017 through 2021. State media didn’t even bother.
Here’s the soon-to-be-former Senior Senator John Cornhole Cornyn emphasizing the 850 people rescued, which is about 930+ people short of who should have been rescued.
And the fat fuck himself seems to be in on that “look at how many were saved” line too, posting “I just signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County, Texas, to ensure that our Brave First Responders immediately have the resources they need. These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost, and many still missing. The Trump Administration continues to work closely with State and Local Leaders. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was on the ground yesterday with Governor Greg Abbott, who is working hard to help the people of his Great State. Our incredible US Coast Guard, together with State First Responders, have saved more than 850 lives. GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES, AND GOD BLESS TEXAS!” on Sunday.
Put it altogether and it seems like they’re being, let’s just say, careful about maybe certain chickens coming home to roost when it comes to who’s responsible for preventing people from getting killed:
Oh wait this is from this year when Trump fucked off on helping Western North Carolina when he’s already president again. Still, it has plenty of clips of him claiming that the Biden Administration had spent all the FEMA money that was supposed to be directed to the recovery on housing for Central American asylum seekers, feeding into that narrative the MAGA ballsuckers who were pushing that pic of the shivering girl, that Trump was needed to make things right.
And when he posted shit like “Kamala and Sleepy Joe are universally being given POOR GRADES for the way that they are handling the Hurricane, especially in North Carolina. It is going down as the WORST AND MOST INCOMPETENTLY MANAGED ‘STORM,’ AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL, EVER SEEN BEFORE – BUT THEIR MANAGEMENT OF THE BORDER IS WORSE!” and “Lyin’ Kamala has left the people of North Carolina STRANDED. Hope they remember at the Ballot Box!”
And when his former best bud tweeted this:
Just received this note from a SpaceX engineer helping on the ground in North Carolina. @FEMA is not merely failing to adequately help people in trouble, but is actively blocking citizens who try to help!
“Hey Elon, update here on site of Asheville, NC. We have powered up two…
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 4, 2024
Continued: “Hey Elon, update here on site of Asheville, NC. We have powered up two large operating bases for choppers to deliver goods into hands. We’ve deployed 300+ starlinks and outpour is it has saved many lives. The big issue is FEMA is actively blocking shipments and seizing goods and services locally and locking them away to state they are their own. It’s very real and scary how much they have taken control to stop people helping. We are blocked now on the shipments of new starlinks coming in until we get an escort from the fire dept. but that may not be enough.
And all that shit about the water in Los Angeles that led the fat idiot to cause a completely different near-catastrophic flood far from the city and its watershed to make a point about… something.
It’s those and many other moments that some in the cult seem to be anticipating being turned around on them and their overlord the way Texas Dem Joaquin Castro hints at here:
Castro’s holding back in the way that the MAGA propaganda-industrial complex didn’t back when Western North Carolina and Los Angeles didn’t when it was politically useful for them. The fear of that was articulated in another Sunday Fox News article headlined “Trump spending cuts, his approach to climate change attacked as catalyst of catastrophic Texas flooding,” some Trump White House minion gave a comment, saying “It’s shameful and disgusting that in the wake of tragedy, the left’s first instinct is to lie and politicize a disaster to target their political opponents. False claims about the NWS have been repeatedly debunked by meteorologists, experts, and other public reporting. The NWS did their job, even issuing a flood watch more than 12 hours in advance. The Trump Administration is grateful to the first responders who sprung into action to save hundreds lives during this catastrophe, and will continue to help the great state of Texas in their recovery.”
Just minutes ago the fat fuck spoke with reporters on the tarmac in Maryland:
It’s pretty obvious this old bag of shit doesn’t have a plan yet, as when he was asked “Are you investigating whether some of the cuts to the federal government left key vacancies at the national weather service?” he said “They didn’t… That water situation that all is and that was really the Biden setup. That was not our setup. But I wouldn’t blame Biden for it either,” like he’s not sure how he’s going to make it Biden’s fault but will figure out some way to make it happen.
So not on the same page with his own minions about what the problem was, how Democrats actually did it, maybe not wanting to blame Elon Musk and DOGE yet… It’s a classic Trump clusterfuck and no need for it to feel true. The MAGA Reich is making it true enough with their completely incoherent messaging and talent for doing exactly that they accuse the other guys of.
