“US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Maine arrested an illegally present Jamaican offender after he unlawfully attempted to purchase a firearm. Officers with ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston in partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested Jon Luke Evans July 25 in Biddeford. At the time of his arrest, Evans was employed as a reserve police officer with the Old Orchard Beach Police Department.”
“Evans admitted to ICE officers that he attempted to purchase the firearm for his employment as a police officer with the Old Orchard Beach Police Department. His attempt to purchase the firearm triggered an alert to ATF agents, who worked in coordination with ICE to make the arrest. Evans lawfully entered the United States Sept 24, 2023, at the Miami International Airport, in Florida.”
“However, he violated the terms of his lawful admission when he overstayed his visa. Evans was scheduled to depart the US October 1, 2023, but never boarded the flight,” says a Monday Homeland Security press release that leaves out some key details about what happened.
That was left to Old Orchard Beach Police Chief Elise Chard, who said in a press release that Evans had been cleared by DHS prior to being hired. “As part of the hiring process, the Town reviewed multiple forms of identification, including photo identification, and submitted Evans’ I-9 form to the Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify Program. The Department of Homeland Security then verified that Evans was authorized to work in the US. Evans would not have been permitted to begin work as a reserve officer until and unless Homeland Security verified his status,” said Chard.
Oh and that they never bothered to inform the force that one of their cops they hire to handle extra summer traffic been arrested. Chard found out when she read the very DHS release pasted above.
But you know, they gotta find that 3,000 a day somewhere and since they knew Evans isn’t a citizen because the chief that fucking hired him had asked them for clearance – which they gave – two months ago they had his number so now a busy Maine resort town in the homeland is down a cop.
