“A joint social media study from Montclair State University faculty in the Joetta Di Bella and Fred C Sautter III Center for Strategic Communication in the College of Communication and Media and the Global Center on Human Trafficking shows a 64 percent decrease in the total number of posts about human trafficking made by prominent QAnon affiliated/MAGA accounts when compared to the highpoint of such posts in 2023,” says the abstract to the study at Montclair’s website.
“Results from the study produced by the Center for Strategic Communication and the Global Center on Human Trafficking include a 64 percent decrease in human trafficking posts from significant MAGA accounts from 1/1/2025 to 7/20/2025 when compared to the same period in 2023 (the highest volume year of trafficking posts among online conservative voices), a 79 percent reduction in the total volume of human trafficking posts in the studied accounts between 2023 and 2025, no posts from the MAGA accounts studied related to proposed cuts to the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (despite such content generating 29.5M potential views from other online sources), and a greater than 50 percent reduction in views of human trafficking posts for 2025 from all studied MAGA accounts, indicating potential diminished interest from their respective audiences,” the abstract to the not-super-lengthy piece of research continued.
The only mention of QAnon fan favorite film Sound of Freedom is down in the citations, in a headline of a New York Times story from July 19, 2023, the day convicted felon President Trump screened at his country club the poorly-reviewed Jim Caviezel film that had been shelved for four years by 20th Century Fox and then Disney when they bought the studio (before and then the real-life anti-sex trafficking activist/vigilante Tim Ballard turned out to be pretty much a sex trafficker himself). The point of bringing it up being that maybe 2023 wasn’t the best period to use as a control given all the hype about the film as the MAGA crowdfunding campaign to distribute and market the film gained momentum and it was released. That being said it shouldn’t be terribly surprising that suddenly in early 2025 the Q freaks suddenly felt like the sex trafficking they believed was so rampant during the Biden years had magically ebbed… And then there’s this July when some other stuff happened.
The researchers really should’ve done like May 20 through July 20th in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 to see what patterns emerged from Sound of Freedom and this year’s shitshow with Jeffrey Epstein.
