Florida man Alex Rojas’s sister has raised $126 of a $3,500 goal for a GoFundMe campaign to help cover his medical bills after an early morning August 15th confrontation with two black juveniles who did not take kindly to his yelling at them to get off his lawn, News 6 reports.
Rojas had stepped out his front door in Apopka at approximately 4:30 AM on the morning in question and immediately encountered two young black bears on his lawn, prompting him to yell in an effort to chase them off. Instead of running the delinquents attacked Rojas, biting his forearm.
“Ultimately, I evaded both bears by hurdling over a vehicle and moving into an open space further down the street. I want to emphasize that I did not harm or kill any of the bears. No bears were harmed during the encounter. My intent in sharing this information is solely to raise community awareness. As a result of the incident, I sustained injuries requiring stitches and may have possible nerve or tendon damage in my forearm from the bite,” said Rojas’s recalling on the GoFundMe page.
