“Prices are coming down. It’s not going to happen immediately. But people are actually feeling it out there… It’s coming down with Donald Trump. We see the numbers all over the place,” non-North Carolina Senate candidate Lara Trump told Frau Laura Ingraham on Tuesday night’s edition of the Fox News propaganda show. Lara naturally did not mention any specifics to her claim of prices coming down because, well, they aren’t. Maybe some in the MAGA cult feel like it’s happening as she mentioned, but feels aren’t numbers, so she left that part of her cheerleading out.
That was “smart.” Even smarter is what her family regime left out when their bloated orange patriarch stood in front of his country club in New Jersey with a shit ton of groceries his campaign bought from a nearby ShopRite supermarket piled on the tables: The receipt for the purchase(s).
Because man was this a fucking pain in the ass to put together based on an archive of coupon circulars from that month to try to reconstruct the prices they actually paid for the items (some of which was on sale at the store that very day, but priced regularly below). Not everything identifiable was listed because of uncertainty about the exact SKU. There’s also the trickiness of estimating the cost of items that couldn’t be found/backpriced from the circulars. It’s still damning, 385 days later:

Anyway this should not be the final word on prices from the fat fuck’s August 15, 2024 press conference. It needs some more polish to nail down what the prices were (the current prices are solid and sourced from the website – as is the store since “Black Bear” is Shop Rite’s house brand). It is however a solid starting point and fun to keep in your pocket to show your MAGA friends/relatives who refuse to wake up and smell the failure. If they won’t then let them figure out what the hell Uncrustables Peanut Butter & Grape Jelly Sandwich (2 oz, 10 ct) actually cost at ShopRite in 2024.
