“Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi announces today that Christopher Moynihan, 35, plead guilty in the Town of Clinton Court to Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, in violation of Penal Law Section 240.30, subdivision (1), reduced from Making a Terrorist Threat, in violation of Penal Law Section 490.20, subdivision (1), a Class D Felony. This plea is related to a threat communicated to another person regarding United States House Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries. The incident occurred on October 17, 2025, in the Town of Clinton. The Defendant admitted that he communicated by telephone a threat to cause harm to another.”

“The case was investigated by the New York State Police and is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Pamela Bloomfield. Judge James Brands presided over the case. The Defendant’s sentencing date is set for April 2, 2026. The agreed upon sentence is 3 years of probation supervision,” says the Dutchess County, New York DA’s office in a press release.

Moynihan, who entered the Senate chamber during the January 6th, 2021 insurrection, was found guilty in August 2022 of obstructing an official proceeding, and pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor charges. He was sentenced in February 2023 to 21 months in prison. Thus, unless there was some extraordinary and extremely unlikely delay in him reporting for his sentence, it’s a near certainty he would not have still been in prison in October 2025 if not for Trump pardoning him in January.
