Spirit Airlines has died, per the Wall Street Journal, pasted here verbatim as to not mince words:
“Spirit Airlines is preparing to cease operations. The ailing budget airline had been hoping to finalize a $500 million lifeline from the government before running out of cash. The discount carrier hasn’t been able to get sufficient support between certain bondholders and the government to secure the funding to keep it in business, people familiar with the matter said,” said the entire text of the Journal’s article with a breaking/will update with more italics appended to the bottom.
What actually happened is not fully clear yet, but the specifics of how the collapse happened matter less than the reality that it was just nine days ago that the Journal had reported that the Trump Regime was putting together a $500 million bailout package that would have saved the jobs of thousands of regular folks like pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, gate agents, and so on. All of them done in by a sudden spike in jet fuel prices wrought by the Orange God Emperor’s Iran misadventure, all of whose hopes no doubt got up when Trump first spitballed the idea on camera. All of whom were let down when they needed him to deliver instead of just bullshit.
