Host Trevor Noah announced during The Daily Show’s Thursday taping that he was leaving the show after a seven-year run, Variety reports. The date of his departure was not disclosed.

A South African native who related his parents’ mixed-race marriage was illegal when he was born, Noah was a relative unknown when he took over the show after a dominating 17-year tenure by Jon Stewart.
