Denying any involvement of police in the matter, Iranian officials have arrested eight men who worked in a building into which a woman who had just burned her headscarf at a protest walked before disappearing and having her body discovered next door, CNN reports.
Nika Shahkarami, a 16-year-old girl, posted a photo of herself burning her headscarf on September 20th at the protest spurred by the death of a 22-year-old woman in the custody of the nation’s Morality Police, who detained her for exposing to much of her hair.
After leaving the demonstration, Shahkarami entered an unspecified building according to security camera footage. It was the last time she was seen alive. Her body was found ten days later behind a house next to the building she was seen entering.
