A former member of the Oath Keepers testified Thursday that he was under the impression that the founder of the MAGA terrorist militia was in contact with a member of the Secret Service, NBC’s Ryan J Reilly reports. On the stand in the Oath Keeper leadership’s trial on charges of seditious conspiracy, John Zimmerman said he overheard the other end of a phone call between Rhodes and a person whom Zimmerman thinks was a Secret Service agent. The apparent implication was that this person was to inform Rhodes if and when Trump would invoke the Insurrection Act, which was key to the Oath Keepers’ plans for an extended siege of the Capitol starting on January 6th.
