A federal judge dismissed one of the five charges Special Counsel John Durham filed against Igor Danchenko, the person who provided much of the information that went into the Steele dossier about Donald Trump, dealing a significant blow to the prosecution, CNN reports.
District Judge Anthony Trenga dropped a charge of lying to the FBI relating to speaking to a Democratic operative, saying what Danchenko told the FBI agent “was literally true.” Trenga determined that Durham, who was appointed by Donald Trump to get to the oranges of the Russian investigation, That investigation, started in 2019, has led to indictments for what conservatives call “process crimes” that are really just misunderstandings or somesuch nonsense. The grand jury attached to the special counsel’s office has ceased meeting.
This is the latest debacle for Durham, who had to impeach his own witness on the stand after the witness, an FBI analyst, testified that he had given Danchenko positive reviews on reports, once saying that the best thing that came out of the Russian investigation for the FBI was its new relationship with Danchenko.
