Small-handed presidential nomination loser, Florida Republican Congressman Li’l Marco Rubio, seeks to further distance young voters from the GOP by introducing legislation in the Senate that would ban TikTok from operating in the United States.

While Republicans hue and cry about limited free speech because social media platforms reasonably moderate content that is dangerous, threatening and hateful, Li’l Marco says he wants to ban Tik Tok, a platform that features short videos, because data is shared with the Chinese government.   In introducing the Averting the National Threat of Internet Surveillance, Oppressive Censorship and Influence, and Algorithmic Learning by the Chinese Communist Party Act (ANTI-SOCIAL CCP Act), Rubio deviates from the standard conservative hysteria about how it will ruin precious American children to claim the Communist Party of China wants data from teenage girls doing a dance challenge.

“The federal government has yet to take a single meaningful action to protect American users from the threat of TikTok. This isn’t about creative videos — this is about an app that is collecting data on tens of millions of American children and adults every day,” Rubio wrote in a statement.  “We know it’s used to manipulate feeds and influence elections. We know it answers to the People’s Republic of China. There is no more time to waste on meaningless negotiations with a CCP-puppet company. It is time to ban Beijing-controlled TikTok for good.”

A similar bill is being introduced in the House by Wisconsin Republican Mike Gallagher and Illinois Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi.  Rubio, who has a negative personal net worth of $1.2 million–that’s right, he’s $1.2 mill in the hole–is a supporter of Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter using Saudi money, apparently because it’s okay for the Saudis to have access to the information.
