The technological troglodytes of the nation, Wyoming Republicans have introduced a resolution in the legislature that would urge individuals and companies to abandon “the misadventure of electric vehicles” and support the fossil fuel industry, Engadget reports.
The non-binding legislation, Senate Joint Resolution 4, calls for phasing out sales of new electric vehicles by 2035 and encourages business and citizens to shun electric vehicles when making purchasing decisions. The move, the legislation asserts is to support “the oil and gas industry in Wyoming [which] has created countless jobs and has contributed revenues to the state of Wyoming throughout the state’s history.”
“One might even say tongue-in-cheek, but obviously it’s a very serious issue that deserves some public discussion,” one of the resolution’s co-sponsors Brian Boner told the Cowboy State Daily (Yes, that’s the actual name of a legitimate outlet) when asked about the spirit of the bill. “I’m interested in making sure that the solutions that some folks want to the so-called climate crisis are actually practical in real life. I just don’t appreciate when other states try to force technology that isn’t ready.”
