The Republican operatives running the Florida legislature are pushing through a new law that would exempt the governor’s travel details from Florida’s public records laws, a move designed to stop critics from scrutinizing Republican Governor and Tweedledee cosplayer Ron DeSantis’s use of the state-owned plane and other resources, Politico reports. Republicans say the change is needed for security reasons.
They’re also looking at legislation that would revoke a law mandating a governor who declares a campaign for President resigns his state office. DeSantis has been on a thinly-veiled campaign tour, poorly disguised as a book tour, using private transportation provided by the publisher or other benefactors; he’s not traveling on commercial airlines. While he’s been on the tour in the battleground state of Ohio, massive rains left Fort Lauderdale flooded.
