Sliding it in at the end of the first half-hour, Howard Kurtz does the Fox version of media criticism on the biggest media story of the week: a self-described “news” network airing a chyron labeling the sitting President of the United States a “wannabe dictator” for 27-seconds. The 18-second clip constitutes the entirety of how a so-called media reporter on MediaBuzz addressed the story about his own network on his own network.
Fox News briefly put up a banner that went too far on the day of Donald Trump’s arraignment referring to President Biden. ‘Wannabe Dictator Speaks At White House After Having His Political Rival Arrested.’ Fox said in a statement the chyron was taken down immediately and was addressed.
Of course, had this happened during the last administration on any network, including the Cartoon Network, Fox and Kurtz would have had a week’s worth of programming out of it, and done “remember when…” callbacks for months. And for a media reporter to not note that a long-time executive producer for Tucker Carlson was fired from the network for the slander shows journalistic malpractice, failing to inform the audience.
