“The president’s rhetoric and his own attacks against people in his administration trying to do the work, as well as the promulgation of false narratives and incorrect information of the virus have made this ongoing response a failure,” she said in an interview with the Washington Post.
Troye sat on the coronavirus task force, headed by Pence, and noted that Trump’s lack of attention to the pandemic demonstrated his “flat out disregard for human life” while putting the economy and his own reelection first.
The White House described Troye as a “disgruntled former employee,” commenting that she allegedly never brought up her concerns about the pandemic response to her chain of command but wasn’t able to keep up with day-to-day responsibilities.
“By not expressing her concerns, she demonstrated an incredible lack of moral courage,” said a statement signed by Lt. General Keith Kellogg, Pence’s national security adviser.
