The United States passed a significant milestone Saturday in the struggle to contain the coronavirus yesterday, conducting one million tests in a single day for the first time since the pandemic struck the nation in a single day, Reuters reports.
The country has conducted more than 90 million tests since January, with a positivity rate of about 7.5%. Many scientists and public health professionals have said that the current quantity of testing is insufficient to safely re-open communities.
The US has been hampered by a number of issues on the testing front, from false negatives to a lack of testing kits to inadequate processing capacity.
