The New York Times reports that Siamak Namazi, Emad Sharghi and Morad Tahbaz, as well as an unnamed Iranian-American businessman and a previously-unreported unnamed Iranian-American scientist, believed to be a woman, will be allowed to return in the coming weeks, with all of them now removed from Iranian prisons and staying in hotels.
In exchange, once the five are back in the US, the federal government will release a handful of imprisoned felons convicted of violating sanctions against Iran, and it will free up $6 billion in frozen Iranian funds that will be managed by the central bank of Qatar which Iran can use on humanitarian goods like food, clothing and medicines.
