The managing editor of the right-wing website RedState, who has been disparaging scientific evidence regarding the coronavirus and who claims it’s a “fraud” has been identified as a public relations coordinator for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the agency headed by Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Daily Beast reports.
Posting under the pseudonym “streiff,” William B. Crews has been propagating pseudoscience and conspiracy undermining the messaging from the CDC and NIAID.
“I think we’re at the point where it is safe to say that the entire Wuhan virus scare was nothing more or less than a massive fraud perpetrated upon the American people by ‘experts’ who were determined to fundamentally change the way the country lives and is organized and governed,” Crews wrote in a June post on RedState.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Crews has worked as a civil servant at NIH since 2007. Daily Beast could not confirm if the multitude of posts and tweets he created were done during business hours, but many were posted during typical office hours.
