President Trump, reading verbatim off a teleprompter, broadcast a pre-recorded campaign speech from the White House to mark the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, touting his isolationist policies and patting himself on the back for getting two Middle Eastern nations to formally recognize Israel, a country with which they both had informal diplomatic relations for decades.

Trump trotted out tired tropes like “Peace through strength” to prop up his campaign. The speech also complained that China intentionally spread the coronavirus and cited early misstatements from the World Health Organization; Trump did not refer to his frequent and ongoing misstatements about the virus.
Curiously, Trump ended the speech with “God bless the United Nations,” an organization he and his administration regularly demeans.
