Seeing outbreaks of coronavirus around the state, Wisconsin has declared a public health emergency as cases rise among young people, with 18-24 year olds accounting for five times as many new cases as any other age group, ABC News reports.
“We are seeing an alarming increase in cases across our state, especially on campus,” Democratic Governor Tony Evers said in a statement. “We need folks to start taking this seriously, and young people especially—please stay home as much as you are able, skip heading to the bars, and wear a mask whenever you go out.”
The spike in cases comes two weeks after the Labor Day holiday weekend and after universities reopened campuses. President Trump held a rally in Wisconsin last Friday, with Don Jr. holding one last Tuesday.
