House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Sunday told NBC’s Kristen Welker that there have been “informal conversations” with Republicans about setting up a bipartisan coalition in the chamber and that on Monday they’ll start work on making it formal, which is actually a pretty big deal.
Asked what the conditions will be for entering an agreement, Jeffries said first and foremost he wants to ensure that “votes are taken on bills that have substantial Democratic support and substantial Republican support, so that extremists aren’t able to dictate the agenda.”
