Virginia Democratic Governor Ralph Northam and his wife have tested positive for the coronavirus, likely infected by a member of the Governor’s residential staff who had the virus, the Viriginia governor’s office announced Friday, the Washington Post reports.
Gov. Northam is asymptomatic and his wife is experiencing minor symptoms, the governor’s office stated.
This announcement comes two days after Missouri republican Governor Mike Parson and his wife both tested positive for the coronavirus. Parson has been a vocal skeptic of public health initiatives to social distance and wear masks, with his state seeing a steady rise in new cases over the past three months.
