A new poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation shows that significantly more voters believe that Joe Biden would be better handling health care policy than Donald Trump, including insuring protections for pre-existing conditions.
Across the board, the non-partisan group found that voters disapprove of the Trump Administration’s handling of the Affordable Care Act, with 57% disapproving of the Administration’s effort to have the courts overturn the law.
In the poll, 53% of respondents do not want the law overturned, versus 38% who do. Independents overwhelming support maintaining the law.
Nearly three-quarters of those polled, 72%, say that maintaining coverage for those with preexisting conditions is a valuable aspect of the ACA. Fifty-seven of those responding also said they themselves had a pre-existing condition that might cause them to lose insurance if the protection is voided. Interestingly, pre-existing conditions impacted just as many people over 65 as they have between 18-65.
Fifty-four percent of respondents feel Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden would be better at managing the future of the ACA, versus 41% saying Trump would. Voters also feel Biden would protect coverage for people with pre-existing conditions better than Trump by a 52-38 percent margin.
