Both sides adhered to the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel that started at 7 a.m. Israeli time/midnight Eastern time, waiting until the first groups of hostages are to be released later Friday, with Hamas expected to release 13 Israeli women and children, with Israel releasing 39 Palestinians it holds.
According to the Washington Post, aid truck from Egypt started moving immediately after the ceasefire was confirmed, moving vital supplies including food, water, fuel and medical supplies into Gaza. Nearly 80% of the population of Gaza, about 1.7 million people, have been displaced since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th.
