A federal judge has ordered the Trump Administration to halt the meetings of its law enforcement advisory committee, ruling that the committee violated transparency laws by meeting behind closed doors, Politico reports.
Judge John Bates, a GW Bush appointee in the District Court for the District of Columbia, ruled the 18-member committee violated the Federal Advisory Committee Act by refusing to place civilians on the commission and failing to post public notices about its meetings.
The commission was slated to present a report to Attorney General Bill Barr at the end of this month, but the order requires the commission to halt work on the report until it remedies its violations of the law.
