A Cook County, Illinois judge ruled on Wednesday that Donald Trump is ineligible for office for violating the 14th Amendment, making Illinois the third state to officially make such a ruling, with other states waiting to act until the Supreme Court rules on Colorado’s effort, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Judge Tracie Porter stated that her order would be immediately put on hold in anticipation of an appeal, and she said it would also be put on hold if the Supreme Court rules to overturn the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision. Colorado’s primary is scheduled for next Tuesday, while the Illinois primaries are slotted for March 19th.
