About a week after delaying a shipment of bombs to Israel to pressure the Netanyahu regime to lessen pressure on civilian populations in Gaza, President Joe Biden is moving forward on shipping more than $1 billion in military aid to Israel, the Washington Post reports.
The White House informed Congressional committees of the moves that will release up to $700 million in tank ammunition, $500 million in tactical vehicles and $60 million in mortar rounds. Although Biden slowed the shipment of 2,000-pound bombs that were being dropped by Israel and causing mass civilian casualties, it has continued to provide other weapons and supplies to Israel. Republicans, however, have characterized Biden’s limited action as a complete shut-off of aid to Israel, with Republican Arkansas Senator and Slenderman Tom Cotton incorrectly calling it an “arms embargo.”
