In the weeks following the 2020 election, Donald Trump’s one-time lawyer and one-time lawyer Rudy Giuliani frantically texted a detailed request for Michigan Republican legislators to fraudulently claim the state’s election outcome was in dispute to the wrong phone number, the Independent reports, a further gaffe in Trump’s plot to overturn Joe Biden’s victory.
According to the detailed information released by Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office, Giuliani sent a text on December 7th, 2020 reading, “So I need you to pass a joint resolution from the Michigan legislature that states that, *the election is in dispute,* there’s an ongoing investigation by the Legislature, and * the Electors sent by Governor Whitmer are not the official Electors of the State of Michigan and do not fall within the Safe Harbor deadline of Dec 8 under Michigan Law.”
Alas, Rudy did not enter the intended phone number and the message either went to someone who thought, “Hmmm, this is unique spam,” or more likely continues to drift aimlessly around cyberspace, occasionally crashing into a stray data packet, much like Rudy Giuliani crashing into chairs at the RNC.
