One person is dead and another 23 were recused, four of them with minor injuries, after a mishap on an elevator going into a tourist trap Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine in Cripple Creek, Colorado malfunctioned, strandng the visitors either in the elevator shaft or down in the deep mine for more than six hours on Thursday afternoon into the evening, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports.
No details about the fatality were available, but it would seem that the person who died was on board the elevator. The Gazette’s article specifically mentions that “children were among the first group rescued” from the elevator “and were provided mental health services, according to officials.”
Not really trying to imagine what happened, guess we’ll have to wait for details.
